The Magenta A11y Overhaul

The Magenta A11y Overhaul

Eight Week Summer Project

During my second summer of interning at T-Mobile, my project under my mentor was to assist the Accessibility team in concepting a redesign and overhaul of one of their branch sites: the Magenta A11y site, an online checklist for web accessibility

The Gamification

My mentor's task for me was to come up with concepts and low-fidelity mockups for the layout of the Magenta A11y redesign, specifically asking for my love of video games and gamification to come into play. So taking my knowledge, I got to work designing the checklist around "collect-a-thon" mechanics and in-game almanac styles.

Feedback Cycles

After the first mockup, I went through a round of feedback from the Accessibility team. After taking their notes, I went through two more rounds of design until I eventually landed on a design I liked until the end of my summer.

After the Summer Internship

My time with T-Mobile had ended before I got to see the end of the Magenta A11y Overhaul project, so unforunately, I was not able to see how things progressed past my initial concept loop.

However.

My work was not forgotten.

The Overhaul

Eight Week Summer Project

Revisiting the Magenta A11y site for picture reference, I had no idea the project had gotten finished. Seeing my low-fidelity mockup layouts be used in official products like this was surreal. I couldn't have been happier and couldn't have asked for a better team to have worked under during my 2nd stay at T-Mobile.
